What are the commonly used free forging equipment?
2024-08-14 15:43:27

free forging is mainly the use of impact force or pressure to deform the metal between two opposing irons, in order to obtain the desired shape and size of the forging. There are two types of free forging: manual free forging and machine free forging.

The tools used for free forging are simple, with two commonly used processing tools: forging hammers and hydraulic presses. They have a wide range of applications and can forge forgings ranging from less than 1kg to 300t. They can be used to process various types of forgings such as shaft forgings, Ring forgings, crankshaft forgings, and bending forgings.

1、 Free forging hammer

The tonnage of various specifications and models of free forging hammers is mainly expressed by the mass of the falling parts (including the upper anvil, hammer head, and working cylinder piston). Free forging hammers mainly include air hammers and steam air free forging hammers, which can generate impact force to deform metal and forge it into forgings. The tonnage of an air hammer is generally 50-1000 kilograms. The tonnage of steam air free forging hammers ranges from 1 to 10 tons.

2、 Hydraulic press

The tonnage of a hydraulic press is generally 5-150MN, expressed in terms of the large pressure it can generate. Metal is deformed by static pressure. The speed of the hammer head of the hydraulic press forging hammer can reach 7-8m/s, which is conducive to improving the malleability of the material and easily achieving a large forging depth; Working under static pressure, without vibration, with low deformation speed (the anvil speed of the hydraulic press is about 0.1-0.3m/s).

forging

The hydraulic press has a slower pressing speed and applies a non impact static pressure to the billet, so there is no need for a bulky anvil. Its tonnage is represented by the large pressure generated. During work, there is minimal vibration and noise. Due to the static pressure applied for a long time, the recrystallization time is sufficient, making it easy to forge the billet through. As a result, the resistance of the entire metal section is uniform, dense, and the mechanical properties of the forging are high.
