What are the forging processing technology processes?
2024-08-14 13:25:55

Forging processing refers to the process of forming metal materials using pressure processing methods, which has the characteristics of energy saving and excellent product performance.

1. Material preparation

Select suitable materials for forging processing according to production requirements. Under normal circumstances, the forging pressure is high, and the requirements for the material are also relatively high. The material is required to have good plasticity and toughness, and be able to withstand the forging process. Common forging materials include steel, iron, copper, aluminum, etc.

2. Heating of materials

Before forging, the material needs to be heated to reach the appropriate forming temperature. The heating temperature of different materials may also vary, generally requiring heating to a higher temperature to facilitate plastic deformation and increase deformation degree of the material.

3. Hammer forging

After reaching the appropriate temperature through heating, the forging process begins. Forging is usually carried out by hammering, using tools such as steel rails and air hammers to continuously impact and deform the material to form it. This process requires strict requirements for forging equipment and operators to ensure the machining effect.

4. Mold forming

In addition to hammering processing, molds can also be used for forming processing. Mold forming can process workpieces of various shapes and local curves, while also improving the surface quality and performance of materials.

5. Cooling treatment

For the processed forgings, they need to be cooled to achieve the corresponding hardness and toughness. Cooling treatment can be carried out through methods such as water quenching and oil quenching, but the specific cooling method depends on the material and working conditions.

6. Mechanical processing

If subsequent processing of forgings is required, such as drilling, cutting, grinding, etc., mechanical processing is necessary. Mechanical processing can finely process workpieces to meet the required dimensions and precision requirements.

7. Inspection

Inspect the processed workpiece to ensure it meets the requirements. Common inspection standards include material quality, machining accuracy, and dimensions.
