How to determine the free forging deformation process?
2024-08-14 15:40:06

There are many things to pay attention to in free forging, but not every one needs to be strictly monitored. How to determine the deformation process of free forging? The following article mainly discusses it for everyone.

(1) Principles for selecting deformation processes

The selection of deformation process is the most important and difficult part in the preparation process, as there are many factors that affect it, such as workers' experience, technical level, workshop equipment conditions, billet situation, production batch, forging labor, auxiliary equipment situation, and technical requirements of forgings. So there is no unified rule, it needs to be treated on a case by case basis. Generally speaking, the following principles should be followed

① The fewer forging processes, the better.

② The heating frequency should be minimized.

③ The simpler and fewer tools used, the better.

④ The simpler the operation technique, the better.

⑤ Ultimately, it must meet the requirements of the forging technical specifications.

In short, it is necessary to combine the specific production conditions of the workshop, refer to similar typical processes, and adopt advanced technologies as much as possible to ensure good forging quality, high productivity, and minimal material consumption.

(2) Selection of Typical Deformation Processes

Generally speaking, the selection of deformation process for forgings can be determined based on the shape, size, and technical requirements of the forgings, combined with the deformation characteristics of each basic process, and referring to relevant typical processes. The selection of deformation process includes: determining the basic processes required for manufacturing the forging, auxiliary processes, arranging the sequence of processes, designing the dimensions of semi-finished products in the process, etc.

The deformation process of pancake forgings is generally formed by upsetting. When the forging has a shoulder, the gasket ring can be selected for upsetting or local upsetting according to the shoulder size. If the hole of the forging can be punched out, a punching process is also required. Long shaft forgings: Shaft forgings generally require a stretching process. For the stepped shaft, it is necessary to first press the shoulder section and then pull out the length. If the hole of the forging can be punched out, a punching process is also required. Hollow forgings: generally require upsetting, punching, and then some need to be lengthened with a mandrel to increase their length, while others need to be enlarged with holes to expand their inner and outer diameters. The choice of deformation scheme mainly depends on the relationship between the three geometric dimensions of the outer diameter, inner diameter, and height of the hollow forging.
